BIOGRAPHY
Brazilian lyric tenor Matheus Pompeu was nominated for the International Opera Awards 2019 for his recording of Halka by S. Moniuszko with Fabio Biondi and Europa Galante. He has been developing a solid career in Europe and Brazil, performing on prestigious stages including the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, Palau de les Arts in Valencia, Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Theater an der Wien, Opera Narodowa, and Theatro Municipal in Rio de Janeiro. Matheus has been recognised by critics for the beauty of his timbre, expressiveness of his singing, and the solidity of his technique.
Matheus has interpreted main roles including Alfredo in La Traviata, Il Duca di Mantova in Rigoletto, Gustavo in Un Ballo in Maschera, Corrado in Il Corsaro, and Ismaele in Nabucco by G. Verdi. Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly and Rodolfo in La Bohème by G. Puccini. Jontek in Halka and Franek in Flis by S. Moniuszko.
